Experiments with Healing

For months I have been visiting a traditional Korean acupuncturist in Busan Korea. Today, I begin writing about these visits. They have blossomed into one of the most fascinating and experimental approaches to healing I have ever encountered. I hope this blog becomes a tool to others who are looking for holistic health remedies.

Yesterday I was stricken with an awful sore throat. Feeling as though something had crawled up and died in my glands I set out for a visit to my acupuncturist. I lay down on the table and opened my mouth for the doctor to take a look. His response was "ooo" . I watched in horror as he rapidly pulled the stinger out of a bee and proceeded down my throat with the tweezers. He then pricked me three times in the infected area of my throat. Before the fourth I was pulling his hand out of my throat as tears streamed down my cheeks. Not knowing what to do after he removed his hand from my mouth I lay in shock while waiting for the pain of the stings to subside. The doctor returned a few minute later and informed me that it would be harder to swallow for the next day or two. Quite taken aback by this comment as in most things he does and says to me, I was a little scared. Miraculously after five minutes of the bee pollen injection my throat started to feel better. Once again, another visit to the acupuncturist proves effective!
